1988 Turbo Coupe

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Check out my new project. I scored this cherry 5-speed 1988 Thunderbird for the princely sum of $2000. Needs a some interior work and a scuff n' shoot, but the 2.3 runs perfect and the 5-speed shifts great!

I never really intended to buy this car (isn't that always the case?) I was looking for a nice set of lower control arms for my Mustang, and I came across a pair on Craigslist for only $150. A decent set of aftermarket arms is usually well over $300 and even more than that if you need spring perches. Anyway, I went to the guy's house, and he pointed to this car and told me it was for sale. Now you know how much I love T-Birds, and how I vowed to get another one someday, so it took me all of 10 mins to decide that I wanted it. I am a huge fan of the 2.3 Turbo motor, and the rare and unique options available on this Bird. It looks a little rough, but all it needs is some trim and paint work and a little TLC for the interior and it's ready to go! All factory options work, including the power antenna, auto-dimmer, and even the keyless entry. I can't wait to share my progress with you on this nice car!

Check out that stance and those factory snowflakes! Body has a little hail damage but is as straight as an arrow.

Needs a few trim parts and emblems for the rear, but everything is in great shape.

Engine is almost clean enough to eat off of. No telltale oil spots from a blown valve cover gasket.

Interior is on mostly good shape. The driver's seat needs a little repair, and the upholstery needs cleaning, but no tears or rips.

Backseat looks great also. 42 oz styrofoam cup is compliments of the previous owner.
